From 120mm² Down to 25mm²

The bottom of the guide's table
Phase 3's assembly guide tabulates reduction sleeves for five cable sizes between 95mm² and 25mm², and 25mm² is the smallest size it lists. Sleeves work by reducing the cable bucket in the rear of the S120 contact so the set screws can clamp a smaller conductor. The R25 is the final sleeve in that table.

All six sleeves, in order
Under the guide's rule, every sleeve from R120 to the one matched to the cable has to go on. For 25mm² its table gives R120 through R25, which means R120, R95, R70, R50, R35 and R25 nested together. They fit inside each other to build a gradual reduction span, and each flared end goes against the cable insulation. Collect the full set of six before beginning.

Termination outline

  • Strip back 33mm of the cable jacket
  • Fit the sleeves over the strands, following the sequence
  • Insert the cable and sleeves until fully home in the contact
  • Tighten each set screw with a 5mm Allen bit, at least 10.5 Nm

For a reliable result
Phase 3 stresses that a good set screw termination depends on following its assembly procedure step by step. Its line connectors take copper conductors only. Phase 3 sells a full Set Screw Reduction Kit too, holding five sleeves from R95 down to R25 plus M40S and M40SS bushes. Installation and upkeep are tasks for qualified electricians, done to the relevant local and national electrical codes.
