be powered by 10-year non-removable batteries (DIY install is permitted).

The R9 and R10 do NOT comply as they are not interconnected.

Can I install Red Smoke Alarms myself?

Many Red Smoke Alarms are suitable for DIY installation, particularly battery-powered models. However, hardwired models must be installed by a licensed electrician to ensure compliance with electrical regulations.

How often should I test my Red Smoke Alarm?

Test your smoke alarm monthly to make sure it’s functioning correctly. Alarms should be cleaned occasionally and fully replaced every 10 years, as required by law.

Are all Red Smoke wireless (RF) interconnected products compatible with each other?

Yes, all the RF (wireless interconnection) devices are compatible. You can interconnect the original and professional devices with each other. This cross compatibility includes a mix of RF native smoke alarms as well as hard-wired models that have the optional RWB2 or RFMOD additions.  Take note of any device count limits.

Which wireless base products are compatible with my wired Red Smoke alarm?

If you have either the R240 or R240RC then you should purchase the RWB2 Wireless Base. If you have the R240P, RFMDUAL, RSDUALP or RSDUALPB, you should pair with the RFMOD Wireless RF Module.  Consult each product page to ensure you have the right matching base/module.

The RWB2 replaces the standard mounting base of your smoke alarm.

The RFMOD inserts/snaps directly into a dedicated module slot in the alarm head. 

Can I wirelessly control my Red Smoke alarms?

Yes, the RACP Wireless Smoke Alarm Controller allows you to silence nuisance alarms, run a system test, locate which alarm triggered, and diagnose past events with the Memory D feature. The remote lifts off its magnetic base for use anywhere in the home.
