Product Category Information
A single pole power system is only as reliable as the small parts around it. This category brings together the Powersafe and Powerlock accessories that keep connectors clean, correctly keyed and safely stored between jobs. From protective caps that seal unused source connectors against dust and water, to parking brackets that hold a set of leads tidy on a distribution board or trailer, these are the items that stop a good system becoming a damaged one.
Keying and locking tools let a licensed electrician set or change the colour key on a connector and secure the locking ring so leads cannot be pulled apart on site. Replacement locking rings, lanyards and seals extend the life of connectors that see hard use in event power, film and television, construction and mining. Buying genuine accessories also keeps the keying and sealing of your source and drain connectors consistent across the whole fleet.
Our electricians build and service temporary power gear every week, so if you are unsure which cap, tool or spare fits your connector, send us the details and we will match it. Pair these accessories with our line connectors, panel connectors and flexible cable per metre for a complete, compliant single pole setup.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What accessories do I need for Powersafe or Powerlock connectors?
The most common accessories are protective caps for unused connectors, a keying or locking tool for setting the colour key and securing the locking ring, parking or storage brackets for leads, and spare seals, lanyards and locking rings. Which ones you need depends on how often the system is deployed and how harsh the environment is.
Why should unused source connectors be capped?
A source connector on a live distribution board or generator can be energised even when nothing is plugged into it. A protective cap keeps dust, water and foreign objects out of the contacts and provides an extra barrier against accidental contact. Caps also protect drain connectors from damage during transport and storage.
What does a keying tool do?
Single pole connectors are mechanically keyed so that only matching colours can be mated. A keying tool is used to set or change that key position, usually when a connector is first assembled or re-purposed for a different conductor. Any re-keying should only be done by a licensed electrician and the connector colour must be changed to match.
Can I mix accessories between Powersafe and Powerlock connectors?
Powersafe and Powerlock are separate connector systems from different manufacturers, so caps, keying tools and spares are generally system specific. Always check the accessory is listed as suitable for your connector system before ordering.
Who can fit replacement parts to single pole connectors?
Replacing seals, locking rings or re-terminating cable on a connector is electrical work and must be done by a licensed electrician. The finished lead should be tested and tagged before it is returned to service, and temporary power installations must comply with the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules.
How should single pole leads and connectors be stored?
Cap every connector, coil leads without tight bends, and keep them off the ground and out of the weather where possible. Parking brackets or dedicated lead racks keep connectors clean and prevent them being driven over or crushed on site.
