Where the R95 Sits in the Sequence
The first reduction step
Phase 3's set screw contact takes 120mm² cable, and reduction sleeves reduce its rear cable bucket for smaller conductors. The guide's sleeve table starts at R120 for every reduced size, and R95 is the next size down. For a 95mm² cable the sequence is simply R120 and R95, with strip length and set screw torque unchanged from the smaller sizes in the table.
Needed for smaller cable as well
Phase 3's rule is that every sleeve down to the one recommended for the cable must be fitted. That puts the R95 into the sequence for 70mm², 50mm², 35mm² and 25mm² cable as well, between the R120 and the smaller sleeves. The same R95 size therefore appears in all five sequences in the guide's table, from 95mm² down to 25mm².
- 95mm²: R120, R95
- 70mm²: R120, R95, R70
- 50mm²: R120, R95, R70, R50
- 35mm²: R120 down to R35
- 25mm²: R120 down to R25
Fitting notes
Strip 33mm of cable jacket, slide the sleeves on over the strands in sequence with their flared ends against the insulation, and push cable and sleeves fully into the contact. The set screws are tightened with a 5mm Allen bit to a 10.5 Nm minimum. Phase 3 calls the recommended procedure essential to a satisfactory termination, specifies copper conductors only, and requires qualified electricians, working to local and national electrical codes, for installation, inspection and maintenance.
