The Powersafe SLD0005 is a Powerlock-compatible single pole line drain connector in Earth green. Its set screw contact terminates 120mm² or 150mm² copper cable without crimp tooling, so high-current temporary power leads can be built and repaired in the field.

Keyed so earth only meets earth
Powersafe connectors are colour coded and mechanically keyed, so this Earth drain can only mate with a Powersafe Earth source connector, in line or panel mount format. Once coupled, a secondary locking mechanism holds the connection and needs a release key to disengage. That stops accidental disconnection under load, a critical point on any multi-line temporary power setup.

Drain format explained
Drain connectors carry a female contact inside a male insulator and are usually the non-live end of a connection, receiving power from the source side. With IP2X finger-proofing on the uncoupled contact and an IP67 rating against water and dust, the SLD0005 is designed for the harsh, outdoor conditions found in power generation, event power distribution and cable assembly work.

Field termination made simple

• Strip the cable insulation back 33mm
• Tighten the set screws with a 5mm Allen bit to a minimum of 10.5 Nm
• Tighten the cable gland body and dome nut to 11 Nm
• For 25, 35, 50, 70 or 95mm² cable, fit Powersafe reduction sleeves (sold separately)

Use copper conductors only. Installation, inspection and maintenance should be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with local wiring rules.

Q: Is the Powersafe SLD0005 compatible with other Powerlock connectors?
A: Yes. The manufacturer states Powersafe source and drain connectors are fully compatible with Litton VEAM, 400A and 660A Powerlock, ITT Cannon and other manufacturers' Powerlock-style connectors. Always mate Earth with Earth.

Q: Can this connector be used with 150mm² cable?
A: Yes. The set screw contact accepts 120mm² and 150mm² copper cable, provided the cable's overall diameter falls within the M40A gland's 19–28mm clamping range.

Q: Can I terminate cable smaller than 120mm²?
A: Yes. Powersafe reduction sleeves, sold separately, step the set screw contact down for 25mm² to 95mm² cable. For cable with an overall diameter of 15–18mm, the manufacturer specifies fitting a PP00131 reduction bush to the M40A gland.
