The Powersafe SLS0017 is the red Line 1 source connector of the 800A Powersafe series, a Powerlock-compatible design for 240mm² copper cable. It is the feeding end of the first phase, with a crimped male contact, L1 keying and a locked coupling.

Starting the Phase Sequence

L1 key, L1 drain
The SLS0017 is cut to the Line 1 key. The only connector that will take it is a Powersafe L1 drain, which may be cable mounted or built into a panel. That mechanical check keeps Line 1 from being landed on the wrong phase, the neutral or the earth.

Why 800A
For 240mm² and 300mm² cable Phase 3 supplies its 800A connector, whose contact carries current across 29 transfer bridges rated at 30A apiece (870A in total). The 800A figure is a maximum continuous rating that varies with cable choice and environmental factors.

Handling the live end
Source connectors are usually live, so Powersafe encloses the male contact in a female insulator rated IP2X finger-proof. After coupling, the secondary lock holds until the release key is used, and the joint is IP67 rated.
