Why the Source End Is Built This Way

Source and drain, explained
Powersafe connectors come in two genders. Source connectors are usually the live end of the connection and have a male contact within a female insulator. Drain connectors are the opposite and usually receive the connection. Because the source end may be energised while unplugged, its IP2X finger-proof protection against electric shock matters most here.

What it mates with
The SLS0005 is keyed to Earth. It couples only with a Powersafe Earth drain, either a line drain on a cable or a panel drain, after which the secondary lock keeps them together until freed with the release key. Mated, the connection is rated IP67.
