The Powersafe PP01193 is the protection cap for Powerlock-compatible Powersafe line drains, in both the 500A and 800A ratings. Made of black rubber and rated IP44, it fits over the drain end of a lead whenever that connector is not coupled.

The gap in protection
The IP67 rating on Powersafe connectors is for a mated source and drain. Separate the two and each mating face is exposed. Phase 3 offers protective caps as an optional item for exactly this state, saying they guard connectors against moisture, dirt and abrasion while uncoupled. The PP01193 does that for line drains; its partner, the PP01192, covers line sources.

A Powersafe drain has a female contact inside a male insulator and, in Phase 3's description, usually receives the connection rather than being the live end. Line drains come in two series, and this cap is supplied for both of them. Across both series, Powersafe line drains are made in five key positions, each with its own colour: green Earth, black Neutral, red Line 1, white Line 2 and blue Line 3.

Part of looking after the lead
Uncoupled, a Powersafe connector is still IP2X finger-proof; the cap is about keeping the mating face clean and protected. Phase 3's assembly guide separately requires drain connectors to have the front O-ring checked for degradation and given a periodic film of silicone grease, and the spring-loaded secondary locking pin checked for free movement. Connector installation, inspection and maintenance belong with qualified electricians; local and national electrical codes govern that work.
