The Red Smoke RHA240SL is a 240V AC mains-powered heat alarm with a 3V rechargeable lithium backup battery rated for 10 years, so it continues to operate during a power failure. It uses a thermistor that activates at 55–59°C, making it suitable for kitchens, garages and other areas where smoke alarms are prone to nuisance alarms. It sounds an 85dB local alarm, can be hardwired and interconnected with up to 40 devices, and is certified to the Australian Standard AS1603.3:2018.

Heat Detection for Nuisance-Prone Areas

Unlike a smoke alarm, the RHA240SL responds to heat rather than smoke, using a thermistor that activates when the temperature reaches 55–59°C. This makes it the right choice for kitchens, garages, laundries and similar spaces where cooking fumes, dust or steam would cause a smoke alarm to false-trigger. Its response time is approximately 1 second once the activation temperature is reached.

Mains Power with Rechargeable Backup

Running on 220–240V AC mains, the alarm maintains continuous monitoring, while its 3V rechargeable lithium battery provides backup during a mains failure. The backup is rated for 10 years, with a low-battery signal at 2.7V and an interconnect voltage of 9V.

Interconnect up to 40 Devices

The RHA240SL can be hardwired and interconnected with up to 40 compatible devices over a distance of up to 150m in free field. It can be interconnected with Red Smoke R240 and R240RC smoke alarms, and with RF-capable units when fitted with the appropriate RF module, so heat and smoke detection can be combined in a single interconnected system.
