Powersafe SPS0007 Panel Source 500A Red Line 1

The Powersafe SPS0007 brings Line 1 out to the panel as a source. It is a red, L1 keyed, Powerlock-compatible connector in the T5 rating of 500A, pairing a male contact with a female insulator. Cable connects at the rear via an M12 threaded post.

Line 1 as a Fixed Source

Live side of the joint
A Powersafe source has the male contact and is normally the live end, and unmated the SPS0007 still has IP2X finger-proof protection against electric shock. The drain side, normally the receiving end, is the opposite gender. Coupled together the pair are sealed to IP67.

What it accepts
The L1 key in the SPS0007 lets a Powersafe Line 1 line drain in and keeps Earth, Neutral, Line 2 and Line 3 drains out. Red shows the first phase on the panel. Mating takes a bayonet turn, and secondary locking then retains the drain until it is released with the release key.

Panel installation

• Bolt through the four flange holes, gasket to the panel
• For front or rear fixing, fit M6 threaded inserts
• Seat the cable lug on the M12 threaded post
• Do up the nut and spring washer to at most 12–14 Nm

Phase 3 manufactures 500A sockets like this one from brass with silver plating, and supplies its panel connectors fully assembled so that they can be mounted directly to equipment. It also states that field installation needs no special tools. Only qualified electricians should install, inspect or maintain it, under the local and national electrical codes in force.

Q: Which drain mates with the Powersafe SPS0007?
A: A Powersafe Line 1 line drain. Drains keyed for other positions will not fit the L1 key.

Q: Is the SPS0007 brass or copper?
A: Brass. Phase 3 makes its 500A panel sockets in silver plated brass.

Q: Is the SPS0007 waterproof?
A: When mated it is IP67 to EN 60529, and a gasket seals the flange to the panel.
