Description

Three phase protection at 25 amps, three modules wide.

The Tesla RCDM3PN25 is a 3P+N RCBO rated at 25 amps, combining C curve overcurrent protection with 30 mA Type A residual current sensing on a three phase circuit. The body measures 53 mm and takes three modules of rail, and a 900 mm neutral lead is supplied ready for connection to the neutral bar.

Why it Matters

Where a 25 amp three phase circuit sits

Twenty five amps is a working rating for three phase submains and for fixed plant that draws more than a general purpose circuit will carry. Putting the earth leakage function on the device itself, rather than upstream, keeps a fault on that circuit from taking out everything sharing a common RCD. On a board with several three phase loads, that containment is the difference between one machine stopping and the whole shop floor going dark.

Active only switching and the neutral lead

Switching acts on the three active poles alone; the neutral stays unswitched. In its place the RCDM3PN25 carries a 900 mm neutral lead that lands directly on the neutral bar. Plan for that at rough-in: the connection is made once rather than looped through the device, and the lead reaches across most distribution boards without needing an extension. Check it against the board layout before the schedule is fixed.

C curve suits motor and inrush loads

The C characteristic holds through the short inrush that motors, transformers and switch-mode supplies draw on start-up, so legitimate energisation does not read as a fault. Type A residual current sensing detects sinusoidal AC residual currents and pulsating DC residual currents, which matters where variable speed drives and electronic control gear are in the circuit. The 6000 A breaking capacity states the prospective short circuit current the device can interrupt; matching that to the actual fault level at the board remains the installing electrician's call.

Termination and mounting

The unit clips to standard 35 mm DIN rail and is rated IP20, so it belongs inside an enclosed switchboard. Terminals take cable to 25 mm2 at a specified 2.5 Nm tightening torque, which makes a torque screwdriver worth having on the job so every termination lands the same way. Dielectric strength is 2500 V. Ratings across the range run from 10 A to 50 A on the same body, so a three phase schedule can be built out without changing device family partway, and spares carry across between circuits.

What is the rated breaking capacity of the Tesla RCDM3PN25?
The breaking capacity is 6000 A, or 6 kA, and the device also provides 30 mA Type A residual current protection on a 25 A three phase circuit.

Is the neutral switched on this Tesla 3P+N RCBO?
No, it is not. The device switches its three active poles only, and ships with a 900 mm neutral lead that connects directly to the board neutral bar.

What tightening torque do the Tesla RCDM3PN25 terminals need?
The terminals are specified at 2.5 Nm, and cable termination is rated to 25 mm2 on a body 53 mm wide.
