The Powersafe SLD0015 is the green Earth drain in Powersafe's 800A Powerlock-compatible range, built for 240mm² copper cable. A hydraulic crimp contact gives a permanent termination for the large earth conductors used on high-capacity temporary power systems.

How the 800A rating is achieved
Phase 3's contact design uses an arrangement of 29 transfer bridges, each rated at 30A, for a total of 870A per contact. That headroom underpins the connector's 800A maximum continuous rating, which in practice depends on cable choice and environmental factors. The manufacturer pairs 800A connectors with 240mm² and 300mm² cable.

Earth that only goes to earth
The SLD0015 is mechanically keyed to the Earth position, so it mates only with a Powersafe Earth source connector, line or panel mount, never a phase or neutral. A secondary lock activates on coupling and opens only with a release key. As the drain, it normally receives the connection and is not live when unplugged, with an IP2X finger-proof contact and IP67 sealing.

Crimping the 240mm² contact

• Strip back to leave 43mm of bare conductor
• Fit the ME 48 die to an HT 131-C or B 131-C hydraulic crimper
• Place three crimps at even intervals along the barrel
• Finish by torquing the gland (body and dome nut) to 11 Nm
