The Hager CDA463T is a 4-pole (3P+N) Type A RCCB rated 63A at 30mA — designed to detect both AC and pulsating DC residual fault currents. Why Type A Is Now the Minimum — Not the Upgrade

AS/NZS 3000:2018 and the installation requirements of most modern appliances increasingly specify Type A RCDs for circuits feeding any electronic load with a rectifier stage. Inverter air conditioners, EV chargers, induction cooktops, variable-speed drives, computer power supplies, and LED dimmer circuits can all inject pulsating DC into the earth path during a fault. A Type AC RCCB will not detect this — it will sit there appearing healthy while the fault persists. The CDA463T's Type A sensing element catches both AC and pulsating DC, covering the full fault spectrum of a modern switchboard without the significant cost premium of a Type B unit.

Temperature Performance You Can Specify With Confidence

The CDA463T is rated to full capacity from -25°C through to +40°C ambient. Above that it derates gracefully: 58A at 50°C, 45A at 70°C continuous — published OEM data, not a safety assumption. That makes it a confident specification for plant rooms and switchboards where ambient temperatures regularly push above 40°C. The device also accepts optional accessories including shunt trip, under-voltage release, and auxiliary contact block, making it adaptable for remotely-operated or monitored boards.

Q: Does the Hager CDA463T provide overload and short-circuit protection as well as earth-leakage protection?
A: No. The CDA463T is an RCCB — it provides earth-leakage (residual current) protection only. A separate upstream MCB or fuse rated for the circuit is required for overload and short-circuit protection. The 6kA conditional short-circuit rating (Inc) applies when a suitable upstream protective device is installed.
