Why it Matters

A 10 kA device for high fault level boards
Breaking capacity is the figure that determines whether a device can clear a short circuit safely or fail trying. This RCBO is rated at 10 kA, which is the figure to check against the prospective fault current calculated for the board, and it matters most on installations with a large supply transformer nearby or short, heavy supply runs. Energy limiting class 3 describes how much let-through energy reaches the downstream circuit during that clearing operation, and the residual element carries a 2000A making and breaking capacity of its own.

Depth is the constraint that bites
The body measures 54mm deep against the 68mm typical of comparable devices, per Tesla's own figures. On a shallow panel or a flush mount enclosure, that difference decides whether the door closes over the wiring loom or the whole enclosure has to be changed. It also leaves more room behind the device for cable bending radius, which is where crowded boards actually run out of space.

Switched neutral with a flying lead
This is a 3P+N device with a switched neutral, so all four conductors break on a trip rather than the three actives alone. The neutral connects through an 80cm flying lead, giving enough reach to land on a neutral bar anywhere in the panel without a joint. Terminals take cables up to 25mm2, covering the conductor sizes normally run to a three phase submain or final subcircuit at this rating.

Built for the long run
Tesla rates the mechanism at 10,000 electrical operations and 30,000 mechanical operations, and the device is built to IEC/EN AS/NZS 61009-1, IEC 61009-2-2 and AS/NZS 61009.1. The C curve suits circuits with moderate inrush, and 400/415V AC at 50/60Hz matches standard Australian three phase supply.
