Why it Matters
Two protections in a single device.
The ADD210B is an RCBO – a residual current breaker with overcurrent protection – combining the functions of an MCB and an RCD in one module. It protects a circuit against overload and short circuit and, at the same time, disconnects on an earth-leakage fault of 30mA or more, guarding against electric shock. Combining both roles in one 1-module device saves board space compared with separate MCB and RCD components.
D curve and Type A leakage detection.
The D tripping characteristic trips on short circuit at 10 to 20 times rated current, suited to circuits with high inrush – transformers, motors and switch-mode supplies – that would nuisance-trip a standard C-curve device. Its Type A residual sensing detects both AC and pulsating DC earth-leakage currents, covering modern electronic loads, and its 10kA breaking capacity handles the fault levels found in commercial and industrial switchboards.
Built for Australian switchboards.
At one module (17.8mm) wide, 115mm high and 70mm deep, the ADD210B clips onto standard 35mm DIN rail. Terminals take rigid conductors up to 25mm², and it is rated IP20 with a 4kV impulse withstand. It complies with AS/NZS 61009 for RCBOs and suits residential, commercial and industrial final circuits with high-inrush loads requiring combined overcurrent and earth-leakage protection.
Q: What is an RCBO and how is the ADD210B different from an MCB?
An RCBO combines an MCB and an RCD in one device: it protects against overload and short circuit like an MCB, and also trips on earth leakage (30mA here) to guard against electric shock – protection a plain MCB does not provide.
Q: What does the D curve mean on the ADD210B?
The D curve trips on short circuit at 10 to 20 times the rated current, suited to high-inrush loads such as transformers and motors that would nuisance-trip a lower B or C curve.
Q: What does Type A mean on the ADD210B?
Type A residual current detection responds to both AC and pulsating DC earth-leakage currents, covering electronic loads that a basic Type AC device may not detect.
