Why it Matters
Switches active and neutral together.
The ADC916T is a 1P+N RCBO – a residual current breaker with overcurrent protection that switches both the active and neutral conductors. It combines the functions of an MCB and an RCD in one module: protecting the circuit against overload and short circuit, and disconnecting on a 30mA earth-leakage fault to guard against electric shock. Because it breaks the neutral as well as the active, it fully isolates the final circuit for safe working.
C curve and Type A leakage detection.
The C tripping characteristic trips on short circuit at 5 to 10 times rated current, the general-purpose curve suited to the mixed resistive and moderately inductive loads on most power-point and appliance circuits – where a 16A rating is one of the most common sizes. Its Type A residual sensing detects both AC and pulsating DC earth-leakage currents, covering modern electronic loads, and its 6kA breaking capacity suits the fault levels found in residential and light commercial switchboards.
Built for Australian switchboards.
At one module (17.7mm) wide, 85mm high and 70mm deep, the ADC916T clips onto standard 35mm DIN rail. Terminals take conductors up to 16mm², it is rated IP2X with a 4kV impulse withstand, and it operates from -25°C to 70°C – a wider range than earlier RCBOs – with 20,000 mechanical and 10,000 electrical operations of endurance. It complies with AS/NZS 61009 for RCBOs and suits residential and light commercial final circuits.
Q: What does 1P+N mean on the Hager ADC916T?
1P+N means the device protects and switches one active pole plus the neutral, breaking both conductors together to fully isolate the circuit – while still occupying just one DIN module.
Q: What is an RCBO and how is it different from an MCB?
An RCBO combines an MCB and an RCD in one device: it protects against overload and short circuit like an MCB, and also trips on earth leakage (30mA here) to guard against electric shock – protection a plain MCB does not provide.
Q: What does Type A mean on the ADC916T?
Type A residual current detection responds to both AC and pulsating DC earth-leakage currents, covering electronic loads that a basic Type AC device may not detect.
