Why it Matters

One device, two protective functions

An RCBO does the work of two components. The overcurrent element interrupts sustained overloads and short circuits, while the residual current element monitors the imbalance between active and neutral and disconnects on earth leakage at 30 mA. Because both functions sit in the one device, a fault on a single circuit drops only that circuit. On a board where several final subcircuits share one upstream RCD, a single earth fault takes the lot out at once, and fault-finding then means isolating and re-energising circuit by circuit. Per-circuit RCBOs remove that problem entirely, which shortens downtime on any site where a nuisance trip is expensive.

Type A sensing for modern loads

Type A residual current protection responds to both sinusoidal AC residual currents and pulsating DC residual currents.
