Description

Full 63 amp three-phase feed, earth leakage included.

The Tesla LNL35C63 handles a 63 amp three-phase circuit and its earth leakage duty from one 3 module body. Overcurrent tripping and residual sensing share a single housing, so the separate breaker and RCD pairing a submain normally needs collapses into one part number.

Key Features

  • 63 amp rated current, C curve tripping
  • 10kA breaking capacity
  • 3P+N (Switched), electronic operation
  • Type A residual current sensing
  • Rated residual operating current 30/100/300mA
  • 400/415V AC, 50/60Hz
  • 2000A rated residual making and breaking capacity
  • Energy limiting class 3
  • 10,000 electrical and 30,000 mechanical operations
  • Terminals accept cables up to 25mm2
  • 80cm flying neutral lead
  • Mounts on 35mm DIN rail
  • Compact 54mm body depth
  • IEC/EN AS/NZS 61009-1, IEC 61009-2-2, AS/NZS 61009.1

Why it Matters

Shallow Boards, Full Three-Phase Capacity
This unit occupies 3 modules and sits only 54mm deep, so it drops into shallow enclosures where a deeper device would foul the escutcheon. The neutral leaves the body on an 80cm flying lead instead of taking a fourth pole position, which is what keeps the width down. Run that lead to the neutral bar and the three actives land on the DIN terminals. On a retrofit where the board is already tight, that difference decides whether the device goes in or the enclosure gets replaced. Mounting is standard 35mm DIN rail, so nothing special is needed to carry it.

Overcurrent and Earth Leakage Under One Lid
Both protective functions arrive in the same enclosure. The C curve handles the inrush that motors, transformers and switch-mode supplies throw at start-up without nuisance tripping, while the residual current side watches for leakage to earth. Terminals take conductors up to 25mm2, which suits the cable sizes a 63 amp submain is usually run in. Rated endurance is 10,000 electrical operations and 30,000 mechanical, so the unit tolerates being used as a working isolation point rather than sitting untouched between faults.

Type A Sensing for Modern Site Loads
Type A detects pulsating DC residual current as well as the plain AC waveform, which matters as more loads on site sit behind rectifiers and inverters. Electronic operation, 2000A rated residual making and breaking capacity and energy limiting class 3 fill out the fault performance, and the 10kA figure suits boards sitting close to the supply where prospective fault current runs high. The device is built to IEC/EN AS/NZS 61009-1, IEC 61009-2-2 and AS/NZS 61009.1, the combination breaker standards Australian installations are specified against.

Is the Tesla LNL35C63 a four pole device?
No. It is a 3P+N unit. Tesla publishes the pole configuration as 3P+N (Switched), with the neutral presented on an 80cm flying lead rather than as a fourth terminal position on the DIN rail. Allow for terminating that lead at the neutral bar when you plan the board layout.

What earth leakage sensitivity does the LNL35 C63 trip at?
Tesla publishes a rated residual operating current of 30/100/300mA across the LNL35 series and does not break the figure down by part code. Confirm the sensitivity of the unit you are ordering before you specify it for a final subcircuit, as the choice changes what the device may lawfully protect.

Will the LNL35C63 fit a standard switchboard?
Yes. It mounts on 35mm DIN rail and takes up 3 modules. Body depth is 54mm, so it clears shallow surface and flush enclosures that will not take a deeper RCBO. Terminals accept cables up to 25mm2, which covers the conductor sizes typical of a 63 amp three-phase feed.
