The ADC216T is an RCBO – a residual current breaker with overcurrent protection – combining the functions of an MCB and an RCD in one module. It protects a circuit against overload and short circuit and, at the same time, disconnects on an earth-leakage fault of 30mA or more, guarding against electric shock. Combining both roles in one 1-module device saves board space compared with separate MCB and RCD components.

C curve and Type A leakage detection.
The C tripping characteristic trips on short circuit at 5 to 10 times rated current, the general-purpose curve suited to the mixed resistive and moderately inductive loads on most power-point and appliance circuits – where a 16A rating is one of the most common sizes. Its Type A residual sensing detects both AC and pulsating DC earth-leakage currents, covering modern electronic loads, and its 6kA breaking capacity suits the fault levels found in residential and light commercial switchboards.
