The ADD216B is an RCBO – a residual current breaker with overcurrent protection – combining the functions of an MCB and an RCD in one module. It protects a circuit against overload and short circuit and, at the same time, disconnects on an earth-leakage fault of 30mA or more, guarding against electric shock. Combining both roles in one 1-module device saves board space compared with separate MCB and RCD components.

D curve and Type A leakage detection.
The D tripping characteristic trips on short circuit at 10 to 20 times rated current, suited to circuits with high inrush – transformers, motors and switch-mode supplies – that would nuisance-trip a standard C-curve device.
