Description

High breaking capacity in one module.

The Hager ADC225B delivers a 10 kA breaking capacity in a single 17.8 mm module. It suits switchboards near the supply, where prospective fault current runs high and a standard 6 kA RCBO is not rated to safely clear a short circuit.

Key Features

  • Hager ADC225B single pole RCBO, 1 module (17.8 mm) wide
  • 25 A rated current, C curve tripping characteristic
  • 30 mA rated residual operating current, Type A
  • 10 kA rated short circuit breaking capacity (Icn, IEC 60898-1)
  • 230 - 240 V AC rated operational voltage, 50 - 60 Hz
  • Rated impulse withstand voltage 4 kV, energy limitation class 3
  • Screw terminal top, BIconnect bottom connection
  • Accepts 1 - 25 mm² solid or 1 - 16 mm² flexible conductors
  • Mounts on 35 mm DIN rail, IP20 rated
  • 10,000 mechanical operations, 2,000 electrical cycles
  • Power dissipation 8.40 W at rated current
  • Manufactured to IEC 60898-1, RoHS conform

Why 10 kA Instead of 6 kA

Breaking capacity is the maximum fault current a device can interrupt safely. The closer a board sits to the transformer or main supply, the higher the prospective short circuit current, and the higher the breaking capacity that circuit protection needs. The ADC225B is rated to 10 kA against the 6 kA of the common ADC series, making it the choice for main and sub-main boards, larger commercial installations and any position where the fault level has been assessed above 6 kA.

Combined Protection, Single Module

This one device replaces a separate MCB and RCD, guarding the circuit against overload, short circuit and earth leakage while taking up just 17.8 mm of DIN rail. Height is 115 mm and depth 70 mm, so it fits standard flush and surface switchboards. The screw top terminal and BIconnect bottom terminal line it up with the rest of a Hager modular assembly.

Type A Earth Leakage Sensing

As a Type A RCBO the ADC225B detects both sinusoidal AC earth leakage and pulsating DC earth leakage, unlike Type AC which detects only the AC component. With switch mode power supplies, inverters and variable speed drives now common on Australian final circuits, Type A is the practical baseline. It trips at a rated residual current of 30 mA.

Rated for Australian Conditions

Rated operational voltage is 230 - 240 V at 50 - 60 Hz, matching the Australian supply. Hager publishes a full derating curve: 25 A at 30 °C ambient, 23.35 A at 40 °C and 20.05 A at 60 °C - relevant in roof spaces, plant rooms and unventilated meter boxes. Storage and transport range is -40 to 70 °C, and the device is rated to 2000 m altitude.

Q: What is the breaking capacity of the Hager ADC225B?
A: It has a rated short circuit breaking capacity of 10 kA (Icn, IEC 60898-1), higher than the 6 kA of the standard ADC RCBO range. Choose it where the assessed prospective fault current at the board exceeds 6 kA.

Q: Is the Hager ADC225B single pole or double pole?
A: It is a 1 pole device with one protected pole in a single 17.8 mm module. If you need a 1P+N version at 25 A, look at the Hager ADC925T (6 kA).

Q: Does the ADC225B protect against electric shock?
A: Yes. As a Type A RCBO it trips at 30 mA residual current, disconnecting the circuit on an earth fault to guard against electric shock, as well as protecting against overload and short circuit.
