Inter-connected alarms are required by law in some jurisdictions, including Queensland, where leased and sold dwellings must have photoelectric, interconnected alarms in all bedrooms, connecting hallways and on each storey. Simple, Low-Cost Protection

The R9 is the most basic alarm in the Red Smoke range: a compact photoelectric detector that runs on a single replaceable 9V battery, with no wiring to install. The photoelectric sensor responds well to slow, smouldering fires, and the test/hush button lets you silence a nuisance alarm for around 10 minutes. Its small 100mm footprint suits caravans, RVs and single-room domestic use.

Q: Can the Red Smoke R9 be interconnected with other alarms?
A: No. The R9 is a stand-alone alarm and cannot be interconnected. When it detects smoke, only this alarm sounds. For interconnected coverage, use the wireless R10RF.

Q: What battery does the Red Smoke R9 use?
A: A replaceable 9V battery (such as an Energizer 522) with around one year of life. Unlike the sealed 10-year R10, the R9's battery is replaced when it runs low.
