The Red Smoke RFMDUAL is a flush-mount photoelectric smoke alarm with dual power: run it on 240V mains with a sealed 10-year lithium battery backup, or as a standalone 10-year lithium battery alarm. Recessed into a 90mm cut-out, it sits level with the ceiling for a discreet, architectural finish.

Discreet Flush-Mount Finish

Unlike a surface alarm that sits proud of the ceiling, the RFMDUAL recesses into a 90mm cut-out so the alarm finishes level with the ceiling line. The alarm body is around 110mm in diameter and extends roughly 62mm into the ceiling cavity, so check you have the clearance above the plasterboard before cutting. The result is a clean, low-profile look that suits feature ceilings and quality fitouts. The unit ships in a plastic dust cover – keep it covered through construction and remove it at commissioning.

Dual Power, Flexible Install

Wire the RFMDUAL to 240V mains for continuous operation, with the sealed lithium battery providing standby if mains power is lost. Where there is no mains, it runs on the 10-year battery alone (note there is no separate standby source in battery-only mode). The photoelectric sensor responds well to slow, smouldering fires, and a hush function quietens nuisance alarms for around 10 minutes.

Interconnect a Whole Home

Hardwire the alarms together so that when one detects smoke, they all sound. Where running interconnect cable is not practical, the optional RFMOD wireless module links alarms by radio at 433.92 MHz. Up to 40 alarms can be interconnected in total across wired and wireless. Note the interconnect terminal is for hardwiring directly to other smoke and heat alarms; do not combine RF modules and hardwired interconnect on the same unit.
