It is a complete switch: mechanisms and cover plate are included and assembled, ready to connect cables and fix to the wall. No separate mechanism purchase is required — unlike the SW3PL grid plate, which is the unloaded version for those who prefer to specify mechanisms separately.

Typical residential applications include three lighting circuits in a living or dining area, a combination of lighting and exhaust fan circuits, or outdoor lighting and entertainment area circuits grouped at one convenient switching point.
