Surface mounting blocks are used when a power point or light switch needs to be installed on a solid wall surface — brick, concrete, masonry, or any surface where there is no cavity behind the wall for flush mounting. The mounting block sits on the wall face and provides the depth behind the plate for cable housing and the fixing centres for the plate screws. The MB16 is the 16mm depth option — the shallowest standard mounting block in the Tesla MB range — providing 16mm of internal depth behind the plate for cable housing.

The 16mm depth is sufficient for standard single phase TPS cable runs where the cable enters from the side or rear of the block and turns up behind the plate. It is the correct choice in installations where minimising the block profile off the wall is a priority — such as in finished spaces where a deeper block would be visually obtrusive, or where the wall surface and adjacent fittings constrain how far the block can protrude. For installations requiring more internal depth for larger cables or more conductors, the MB18 (18mm) or MB34 (34mm) are available in the same range.

The MB16 suits single outlet plates only — one power point or one switch plate per block. Multiple fixing points on the block allow the mounting screws to be positioned to suit different wall fixing requirements.
