About Enclosed Mounting Block Covers

A mounting block (also called a pattress box, surface mounting box, or wiring block) is a raised enclosure used in surface-mount electrical installations — allowing a wiring device such as a light switch or power point to be mounted on the surface of a wall, conduit system, or structure, rather than flush-recessed into the wall. The enclosed mounting block cover (MBC) has a fully enclosed body with a closed top — protecting the wiring cavity from dust, insect ingress, and incidental contact, while allowing conduit entry through knockout entries on the sides.

The MBC accepts standard single-gang switch and socket plates — the six knockout conduit entries allow 20mm or 25mm conduit to be connected into the block from any direction. Metal inserts are moulded into the screw holes to provide thread engagement for the two included mounting screws. Polycarbonate construction provides impact resistance, fire retardancy, and halogen-free compliance — suited to commercial, industrial, and outdoor above-ground surface wiring installations.
