The ESC441 carries four normally closed poles on a single 230V AC coil: all four circuits stay connected while the coil is at rest and open together the instant it is energised. That inverted logic is what shutdown, load-shedding and fail-safe schemes rely on – one control signal positively disconnects up to four circuits at once, rather than switching them on – and at 40A it steps well above the 25A four-pole models for heavier feeds.
