The Hager ESC227 is a 25A modular contactor with one normally open (NO) and one normally closed (NC) contact, driven by a single 230V AC coil. Energising the coil closes the NO contact and opens the NC contact at the same time, letting you switch one load on while another switches off, all from a single DIN rail module.

What Does 1NO + 1NC Mean?

A normally open (NO) contact is off until the coil is energised; a normally closed (NC) contact is on until the coil is energised. The ESC227 has one of each on a shared coil, so both contacts change state together in opposite directions. That suits interlocked switching, such as changing between two loads, or signalling one circuit off whenever another is on.

Compact Switchboard Control

At one module wide, the ESC227 packs two contacts into the space of a single device on the DIN rail. It accepts rigid conductors up to 10mm2 through screw terminals, and its AC-7a rating covers resistive household loads at 25A, while the AC-7b rating of 8.5A applies to motor loads with higher inrush. It can be controlled by a timer, thermostat or switch on a separate 230V circuit.
