Description
Two-pole 16 amp protection, sized for switchboards.
The Tesla TMCB2P16 is a two pole miniature circuit breaker rated 16 A at 415 V AC with a 6000 A breaking capacity. It breaks both connected conductors on a fault, and its C curve characteristic rides through normal start-up inrush instead of nuisance tripping.

Why Two Poles Earn Their Board Space
A two pole breaker opens both of its connected conductors together rather than leaving one of them live. On a switchboard that matters when an electrician needs the downstream circuit properly dead before working on it. The trade-off is width. This device occupies two modules on the rail, twice the space of the single pole equivalent, so count that into the board schedule before you order. Tesla dimensions the HPC2 range in modules, one, two or three by pole count, so board space reads straight off the part number.
Why the C Curve
C curve tripping sits between the quick B curve and the slower D curve. It tolerates the brief inrush drawn at switch-on by lighting circuits, small transformers and switch-mode supplies, then still trips on a genuine overload or short circuit. Tesla publishes B, C and D curve characteristics across the HPC2 range and describes the C curve as suiting most applications, which is why it is the usual pick for general distribution work. Where a load needs a higher magnetic threshold again, Tesla lists separate D curve part numbers rather than offering an adjustment on this device.
Terminations and Service Life
The terminals are pillar type with a clamp, and Tesla rates them for rigid conductor up to 25 mm2. That covers the conductor sizes normally landed on a 16 A final subcircuit. The overload element is bi-metal, so tripping follows a thermal characteristic rather than a fixed timer. Rated endurance is 10000 mechanical operations and 4000 electrical operations, which separates routine switching duty from fault clearing duty. The housing carries an IP20 rating, the standard called up is IEC/EN 60898, and the approval number Tesla publishes for the HPC2 range is V08030. Tesla positions the 6 kA breaking capacity of this range at commercial, domestic and industrial applications, and supplies the two pole devices singly in boxes of 6 and outers of 60.
Is the Tesla TMCB2P16 a C curve circuit breaker?
Yes. Tesla lists TMCB2P16 in the HPC2 6 kA range and describes that range as having C curve characteristics to suit most applications. B and D curve versions are sold under separate part numbers.
What voltage and breaking capacity does the TMCB2P16 have?
Tesla rates the two pole HPC2 breakers at 415 V AC, 50/60 Hz, with a 6000 A breaking capacity. The 16 A figure is the rated current the breaker carries continuously, not the fault current it is able to interrupt.
What size cable can I terminate in a Tesla TMCB2P16?
The pillar terminals with clamp accept rigid conductor up to 25 mm2, as published on the Tesla HPC2 product data sheet.
