Description
Full 10 kA capacity across three poles.
Boards on higher prospective fault levels need a breaker that can clear the worst case and keep doing it. The Tesla MCB10K3P16 is a three pole 16 amp C curve miniature circuit breaker with Icn equal to Ics at 10 kA, Energy Limiting Class 3, and DIN rail or chassis mounting.
Key Features
- 16 A rated current, three pole

Why Icn Equal to Ics Matters
Two breaking capacity figures are quoted on a miniature circuit breaker. Icn is the rated short-circuit capacity, the largest fault the device can interrupt at all. Ics is the service short-circuit capacity, the largest fault it can interrupt and then remain in service afterwards.
On many breakers Ics is a fraction of Icn, so a full-capacity fault means the device has done its job once and should be replaced. On the Tesla MCB10K3P16 the two figures are the same at 10 kA. The breaker is rated to clear a fault at its full capacity and stay serviceable.
That distinction matters when specifying for a board where the prospective fault current is high. The headline number and the number you can actually rely on repeatedly are one and the same.
Energy Limiting Class 3 and the C Curve
Energy limiting class describes how much let-through energy passes before the breaker opens on a short circuit. Class 3 is the tightest of the classes defined for miniature circuit breakers, so less energy reaches the downstream cabling and connected equipment during the fault.
The C curve tripping characteristic sits between B and D. It tolerates the brief inrush that many loads draw when first switched on, while still clearing a sustained overload or a short circuit. Paired with Class 3 energy limiting, the device rides through normal starting current but cuts a genuine fault short.
Isolation, Indication and Mounting
The MCB10K3P16 provides the function of isolation, so it can be used to positively disconnect the circuit rather than only to protect it. All three poles break together, leaving no conductor live behind an open device.
Contact position indication shows the true state of the contacts rather than just the toggle position. If the contacts have welded closed, the indicator reflects that instead of reading as open, which is the point of the feature on an isolating device.
Mounting is flexible. The breaker fits standard DIN rail or mounts directly to a chassis, so it suits both a conventional board build and a custom panel where rail is not practical.
Q: What is the difference between Icn and Ics on the Tesla MCB10K3P16?
A: Icn is the rated short-circuit capacity and Ics is the service short-circuit capacity. On this breaker both are 10 kA, so it is rated to clear a full-capacity fault and remain in service.
Q: Can the Tesla MCB10K3P16 be used as an isolating device?
A: Yes. Tesla lists the function of isolation for this range, and all three poles break together. Contact position indication shows the actual contact state rather than just the toggle position.
Q: How does the Tesla MCB10K3P16 mount?
A: It mounts on standard DIN rail or directly to a chassis. It is a three pole 16 amp device with a C curve characteristic and Energy Limiting Class 3.
