Description
Tesla SB. Right Angle Stud Bracket. Zinc Steel. 130x73x39mm. Multiple Fixing Points.
The Tesla SB is a right angle stud bracket for mounting power points, light switches, data and phone outlets, and other wall accessories to timber or metal stud framing during construction. The right angle design allows the bracket face to be positioned at the required setout from the stud face — providing flexibility that nail brackets (which fix face-on to the stud) cannot offer. Zinc steel construction. Suits timber framing with wood screws and metal framing with Tek screws or rivets. Multiple fixing points. Sold individually.

How the Tesla SB Stud Bracket is Used
A stud bracket is fixed to the side face of a wall stud — timber or metal — with the bracket arm extending out to position the plate fixing centres at the required distance from the wall surface. This right-angle fixing method is the standard approach in both timber and metal frame wall construction, where the stud may not be positioned exactly at the correct setout for the wall plate, or where multiple outlets at different heights need to be set out consistently regardless of stud positioning.
Unlike nail brackets (NBH/NBV) which nail face-on to the stud and are constrained to the stud's exact position on the wall, the SB stud bracket screws to the side of the stud and extends the mounting face outward — allowing the fixing centres to be positioned at any required setout within the bracket's depth (39mm). This is particularly useful in metal stud construction, where the framing member profile and the available fixing methods (Tek screws, rivets) make side-of-stud fixing the standard method. Multiple fixing points on the bracket allow the wood screws, Tek screws, or rivets to be positioned for optimal grip on the framing member.
The Tesla SB is the standard stud bracket. The TESSBV (Stud Bracket Versatile) is also available in the Tesla range for applications requiring additional adjustment flexibility. Both are zinc steel construction.
Q: What is the difference between a stud bracket (SB) and a nail bracket (NBH)?
A: A nail bracket (NBH/NBV) is nailed face-on to the stud — quick and simple but the plate fixing centres are fixed at the stud's exact position. A stud bracket (SB) screws to the side of the stud with a right-angle bend, allowing the plate fixing centres to be offset from the stud face. Use stud brackets for metal framing or where setout flexibility is needed; use nail brackets for straightforward timber framing where the stud is exactly at the required position.
Q: Can the SB be used on metal stud framing?
A: Yes — the SB suits metal stud framing using Tek screws or rivets through the bracket's fixing holes into the metal stud, as well as timber framing using wood screws.
Q: What wall plate types does the SB suit?
A: The SB suits all standard Australian wall accessories — power points, light switches, data outlets, phone outlets, and other standard-size wall plates at 84mm fixing centres.
