The 2:1 shrink ratio means the tube shrinks to approximately half its supplied diameter when heated — a 4.0mm supplied I.D. tube recovers to approximately 2.0mm minimum recovered I.D., creating a tight, conforming sleeve over the cable or termination.

Heat shrink is applied using a heat gun set to the correct temperature — applying even heat along the tube causes it to shrink uniformly around the cable or component underneath.
