Why it Matters

The MSN320 is a 20A three-pole miniature circuit breaker, protecting a three-phase circuit against both overload and short circuit and tripping automatically when either occurs. Its three linked poles switch and protect all three phases as one, a common choice for larger three-phase power sub-circuits, motors and distribution feeds in homes and light commercial boards, with a 6kA breaking capacity for the fault levels found in those switchboards.

C curve for motor and mixed loads.
The C tripping characteristic trips on short circuit at 5 to 10 times rated current, the general-purpose curve suited to mixed resistive and inductive loads including the inrush of three-phase motors. Backed by a 6kA short-circuit breaking capacity to IEC 60898-1 and energy limiting class 3, the MSN320 limits let-through energy during a fault to help protect downstream cabling.

At three modules (52.5mm) wide, 83mm high and 70mm deep, the MSN320 clips onto standard 35mm DIN rail with 360° mounting flexibility, and its terminals take rigid conductors up to 35mm² at 2.8Nm. It is compliant with AS/NZS 60898.1, rated IP20, and operates from -25°C to 70°C to suit distribution boards and homes across Australian conditions. Hager auxiliaries including the MZ201 auxiliary contact, MZ202 alarm contact and MZ203/MZ204 shunt trips are available.
