About the Tesla SW2/LDN 2 Gang Large Dolly Switch

The Tesla Large Dolly range is designed to meet the needs of aged care facilities, senior and assisted living homes, NDIS funded accessible housing modifications, and any installation where ease of switch operation is a priority. The large dolly rocker is over four times the area of a standard switch mechanism — giving users a much larger target to press with a soft touch surface that responds to lighter pressure than a conventional switch. The SW2/LDN puts two of these accessible rockers on a single plate, allowing two circuits to be switched from one wall position without sacrificing the large-format accessible design on either gang.

The SW2/LDN is the 2 gang version of the standard Large Dolly (LD) format — as distinct from the XL Large Dolly (LDXN) format which has an even larger dolly profile. Both the LD and LDXN ranges use 35mm mechanisms, are rated 16A 250V, and are NDIS compatible. For 3 and 4 gang configurations, the XL format (SW3/LDXN, SW4/LDXN) is the option as the LD range covers 1 and 2 gang only.

An important installation note from the manufacturer: the switch mechanisms in the Tesla Large Dolly range cannot be reconfigured after installation. The correct switch type for each gang position — standard single-pole or intermediate/two-way — must be selected and confirmed at the time of ordering and cannot be changed on site. Ensure the correct wiring configuration is planned for both gang positions before ordering.

Q: What is the difference between SW2/LDN and SW2/LDXN?
A: Both are 2 gang complete large dolly light switches rated 16A 250V and NDIS compatible. The SW2/LDN uses the standard Large Dolly (LD) actuator profile. The SW2/LDXN uses the XL (Extra Large) dolly profile — larger again than the LD. Both use 35mm mechanisms. Choose based on the dolly size specified for the installation.

Q: Can the switch mechanisms be changed after installation?
A: No — the Tesla Large Dolly switch mechanisms cannot be reconfigured after installation. The correct switch type must be selected for each gang position at the time of ordering. If two-way switching is required on either gang, an intermediate mechanism version must be ordered from the outset.

Q: Is this a complete switch or a plate only?
A: The SW2/LDN is a complete switch — the large dolly mechanisms, actuators, and plate are all included and assembled. No separate mechanism or plate purchase is required. Connect the cables and fix to the wall.
