Why it Matters

Extra heavy duty is about cord size, not current

The XHD carries the same 10 A at 250 V as the standard 438, but takes a 12 mm cable entry sized for 1.5 mm heavy duty three core flex. That is the largest cord in the 438 range — the standard version handles thinner flex and the HD sits between the two at 10 mm. If you are terminating 1.5 mm cord, this is the only one of the three that will close over it.

Screw-fixed housing for a heavier assembly

The housing is fixed by screws rather than clipped. On a lead built from heavy flex that gets dragged, coiled and pulled, a screw-fixed body holds the assembly together under load and lets you open it cleanly for re-termination.
