Why it Matters

15 amps needs a 15 amp socket

A 15 A outlet is a different pin pattern to the standard 10 A: the earth pin is larger, so a 15 A plug will not fit a 10 A socket. If you are making up a lead for equipment fitted with a 15 A plug — welders, compressors, larger site tools — this is the socket that accepts it. The 10 A version will not.

Rewireable means you build the lead you need

A rewireable cord socket lets you terminate your own flexible cord rather than buying a fixed-length lead. Cable is landed inside the housing through a 10 mm entry and the socket closes over it, so you can make up an extension lead to whatever length the job needs, and re-terminate later if the cord is damaged. That is what separates a rewireable fitting from a moulded one: the connection is serviceable.
