Conduit Screwed Reducer 50mm to 40mm
Electrotraders USPs
Description
50mm to 40mm. PVC. Grey. Screwed Conduit Reducer.
The Rylec SR5040C is a 50mm to 40mm grey PVC screwed conduit reducer — for stepping down from a 50mm threaded rigid PVC conduit to a 40mm threaded conduit connection. One end accepts a 50mm screwed conduit, the other provides a 40mm screwed connection, allowing a clean size transition at a threaded coupling point in larger commercial and industrial conduit installations. Sold individually.
- Rylec — Series "SR" PVC screwed conduit reducer
- 50mm (female) to 40mm (male) — steps down conduit diameter at a threaded connection point
- Grey PVC construction
- For use with threaded (screwed) rigid PVC conduit systems
- Sold individually

Where the SR5040C Screwed Reducer Fits
The SR5040C steps a threaded PVC conduit run from 50mm down to 40mm — used in larger commercial and industrial conduit installations where a 50mm main conduit run transitions to a 40mm sub-run at a branch point, junction, or entry. The SR5040C threads directly between the two conduit sizes, maintaining a continuous threaded conduit system without requiring separate adaptors at each conduit end.
The 50mm to 40mm step is the largest standard size reduction in the Rylec SR screwed reducer range, reflecting the conduit sizes used in the main conduit entries for larger commercial switchboards, industrial machine installations, and significant multi-cable sub-mains runs where the main run is 50mm and branches step down to 40mm for distribution. The grey PVC construction matches the standard grey rigid conduit system used throughout Australian commercial and industrial electrical installations.
The SR range covers four consecutive size steps: SR2520C (25mm to 20mm), SR3225C (32mm to 25mm), SR4032C (40mm to 32mm), and SR5040C (50mm to 40mm) — each reducing by one standard conduit size step.
Q: What is the difference between a screwed reducer and a plain-to-screwed adaptor?
A: A screwed reducer (SR5040C) connects two threaded conduit sections of different diameters — both ends are threaded. A plain-to-screwed adaptor (PSA series) connects a plain (unthreaded) conduit tube to a threaded fitting or enclosure entry. Use the SR5040C where both conduit sections in the run are threaded/screwed.
Q: When is a 50mm to 40mm conduit reducer typically needed?
A: The SR5040C is used in larger commercial and industrial installations where a 50mm main conduit run — carrying a large cable bundle such as a main sub-mains feed — branches or transitions to a 40mm sub-run at a distribution point. It is the largest standard size step in the Rylec SR reducer range.
