The 438/20 is the highest-rated socket in the 438 family, above the 10 A and 15 A models. At 20 A it takes a 12 mm cable entry sized for 2.5 mm flex, because the conductor carrying that current is physically larger. If you are making up a lead for higher-draw equipment, this is the socket rated for it.

Rewireable means you build the lead you need

A rewireable cord socket lets you terminate your own flexible cord rather than buying a fixed-length lead. Cable is landed inside the housing through a 12 mm entry and the socket closes over it, so you can make up an extension lead to whatever length the job needs, and re-terminate later if the cord is damaged. That is what separates a rewireable fitting from a moulded one: the connection is serviceable.
