About Twin Bootlace Ferrules — Why Use Them

A twin bootlace ferrule (also called a twin pin ferrule or twin end sleeve) accepts two stranded conductors simultaneously and crimps them into a single insulated pin — allowing two conductors to share a single screw terminal position cleanly and securely. This is a common requirement in control panel wiring where multiple wires must connect to the same terminal point, such as common neutrals, earth busbar connections, or parallel control circuits.

Without a ferrule, inserting two bare stranded conductors into a single terminal creates a risk of stray strands, poor contact, and conductor displacement under vibration. The twin ferrule solves this by consolidating both conductors into a single crimped pin with the same profile as a standard single ferrule — the terminal sees one clean pin rather than two loose wire bundles.

The BLT040 uses halogen free, flame retardant V2 nylon insulation and is suited to 2×4.0mm² conductor pairs. Orange is the standard colour code for 4.0mm² ferrules. A crimping tool with a twin die set accommodating 2×4.0mm² twin ferrules is required — a standard single ferrule die will not correctly crimp a twin ferrule.
