Tesla 12 Hole Neutral Link Black Cover Numbered Terminal 100A 500V Max Cable 16mm2
Electrotraders USPs
Description
Tesla L12. 12 Hole Neutral Link. Black Cover. 100A. 500V. Max 16mm².
The Tesla L12 is a 12 hole neutral link with a black tinted transparent polycarbonate cover — used in electrical switchboards to connect and distribute the neutral conductor from the main supply to multiple outgoing circuits. The black cover identifies this as a neutral link in compliance with Australian electrical conventions, distinguishing it from the red-covered active link (L12R). Numbered terminals aid identification and wiring accuracy. Sold individually.

What the Tesla L12 Neutral Link Does
A neutral link connects the incoming neutral conductor from the main supply to the neutral conductors of multiple outgoing circuits. It performs the distribution function on the neutral side of the circuit — the passive side in a standard single-phase installation — and is identified by a black or clear cover under Australian switchboard conventions. The L12 provides 12 terminal positions, sufficient for distributing the neutral to 12 outgoing circuits from a single link in a medium-sized residential or light commercial switchboard.
The black tinted polycarbonate cover provides physical protection over the neutral brass bar and terminal screws while remaining transparent for inspection — wiring and the sealing screw can be checked without removing the cover. The cover is sealable with a brass insert sealing screw that resists stripping, allowing the link to be sealed after installation where required.
The 12 terminal positions are divided into two tunnel sizes: three tunnels at 6.3mm for cables up to 16mm² (typically for larger sub-main or service conductors) and nine tunnels at 4.5mm for cables up to 10mm² (standard for domestic and light commercial circuit conductors). Each tunnel has two clamping screws for dual-point termination. Numbered terminals allow each circuit to be clearly identified at the link for wiring, testing, and maintenance.
The Tesla L12 (black cover, neutral link) and L12R (red cover, active link) are the companion pair for the neutral and active sides of a 12-circuit switchboard distribution.
Q: What is the difference between the Tesla L12 and the L12R?
A: The L12 has a black tinted cover and is used as a neutral link — connecting the neutral conductor from the main supply to the neutral conductors of outgoing circuits. The L12R has a red tinted cover and is used as an active link — connecting the live conductor on the active side. Both have the same 12 hole, 100A rated brass bar and the same tunnel sizes; the cover colour is the distinguishing identifier per Australian wiring conventions.
Q: Can the L12 be sealed after installation?
A: Yes — the cover has a sealing screw with a brass insert that resists stripping, allowing the cover to be sealed after installation. The transparent black cover allows inspection without removal.
Q: What cable sizes does the L12 accommodate?
A: The L12 has two tunnel sizes. Three tunnels are 6.3mm diameter, each accommodating one cable up to 16mm². Nine tunnels are 4.5mm diameter, each accommodating one cable up to 10mm². Each tunnel has two clamping screws.
