Why it Matters

Heavy duty means a bigger cord entry

The HD version of the 438 takes a 10 mm cable entry and is sized for 0.75 mm and 1 mm heavy duty three core flexible cords. Standard-duty sockets are built around thinner cord, so if you are making up a lead from heavier flex, the ordinary 438 will not close properly over it. This is the version that will.

Rewireable means you build the lead you need

A rewireable cord socket lets you terminate your own flexible cord rather than buying a fixed-length lead. Cable is landed inside the housing and the socket closes over it, so you can make up an extension lead to whatever length the job needs, and re-terminate later if the cord is damaged.
