About Closed End Crimp Connectors
A closed end crimp connector (also called a splice cap, end cap connector, or pig-tail connector) is a small insulated crimp sleeve that is closed at one end — conductors are inserted into the open end and crimped to make a secure mechanical and electrical joint. Unlike butt splice connectors (open at both ends), the closed end seals and insulates the termination point, making it particularly suited to joining multiple fine wires, terminating wire tails, and creating neat, insulated wire ends in automotive, marine, and electronics wiring.
The CE1 is the 1.5mm² size in the Pacific Components closed end connector range — suited to fine gauge wiring up to 1.5mm² in automotive, marine, electronics, and instrumentation applications. The copper tube provides a solid crimped connection and the nylon insulation sleeve covers the entire crimp area. Halogen free and flame retardant insulation makes the CE1 suited to applications where low smoke and flame resistance are required.
Q: What wire size does the CE1 suit?
A: The CE1 is rated to 1.5mm² — suitable for wire in the range 0.25–1.65mm² (22–16 AWG).
Q: What is a closed end crimp connector used for?
A: A closed end connector joins two or more conductors end-to-end with a crimped sleeve, or terminates a single conductor with a sealed insulated end. The closed end seals the termination point — unlike a butt splice which is open at both ends.
Q: What tool is required to crimp the CE1?
A: A standard ratchet crimping tool is required. The tool must have a die set suitable for the CE1 wire range.
Q: How many connectors are in a pack?
A: The CE1 is sold in a pack of 100 connectors.
