Description

Tesla L7R. 7 Hole Active Link. Red Cover. 100A. 500V. Max 25mm².

The Tesla L7R is a 7 hole active link with a red tinted transparent polycarbonate cover — used in electrical switchboards to connect and distribute the active (live) conductor from the main supply to multiple outgoing circuits. The red cover identifies this as an active link in compliance with Australian electrical conventions, distinguishing it from the clear-covered neutral link (L7). The L7R suits cables up to 25mm² and provides 7 terminal positions — two for heavier conductors (up to 25mm²) and five for standard circuit conductors (up to 16mm²). Numbered terminals aid identification and wiring accuracy. Sold individually.

  • Tesla L7R — 7 Hole Active Link with Red Cover

What the Tesla L7R Active Link Does

The L7R provides 7 terminal positions with two different tunnel sizes — giving the installer flexibility to accommodate both heavier service conductors (up to 25mm² in the 8mm tunnels) and standard circuit conductors (up to 16mm² in the 4.8mm tunnels) at the same active link. This makes the L7R a practical choice for switchboards where the active distribution point needs to handle a mix of larger sub-main conductors and standard circuit actives from the one link.

The red tinted polycarbonate cover provides physical protection over the live brass bar and terminal screws while remaining transparent for inspection — wiring and the sealing screw can be checked without removing the cover. The cover is sealable with a brass insert sealing screw that resists stripping.

The numbered terminal positions allow each circuit to be clearly identified at the link — useful during commissioning and essential for fault finding, testing, and ongoing switchboard maintenance. The Tesla L7 (clear cover, neutral link) and L7R (red cover, active link) are the companion pair for installations requiring 7-position heavy-cable active and neutral distribution.

The Tesla neutral and active link range covers 5-hole (L5/L5R), 7-hole (L7/L7R), 12-hole (L12/L12R), and 14-hole (L14/L14R) configurations — with clear covers for neutral links and red covers for active links throughout the range.

Q: How does the L7R compare to the L5R and L12R?
A: All three are red-covered active links rated at 100A and 500V with brass bar construction. The L5R has 5 holes with tunnels up to 8mm (max 25mm² cable). The L7R has 7 holes — 5 at 4.8mm (max 16mm²) and 2 at 8mm (max 25mm²) — providing more circuit positions than the L5R while retaining the 25mm² capacity. The L12R has 12 holes all rated to 16mm² maximum — more positions but no 25mm² capacity.

Q: What is the difference between the Tesla L7 and the L7R?
A: The L7 has a clear (transparent) cover and is used as a neutral link. The L7R has a red tinted cover and is used as an active link. Both have the same 7 hole, 100A rated brass bar and identical tunnel sizes.

Q: Can the L7R be sealed after installation?
A: Yes — the cover has a sealing screw with a brass insert that resists stripping, allowing the cover to be sealed after installation. The transparent red cover allows inspection without removal.
