Description

10 Hole Neutral Link. Black Cover. Numbered Terminals. Switchboard Ready.

The Transco NL10 is a 10 hole neutral link rated at 100A and 500V max — the internal switchboard component used to connect the incoming neutral conductor to the neutral terminals of multiple circuits within a residential or commercial switchboard. The black transparent impact-resistant polycarbonate cover provides both insulation protection and the universally recognised colour code for the neutral conductor in Australian installations. Numbered terminals assist with circuit identification. Screw mounted, sold individually.

Where the NL10 Neutral Link Fits in Switchboard Installations

A neutral link is the internal switchboard component that connects the incoming neutral supply conductor to the neutral terminals of individual circuits — the neutral equivalent of the active link. In a correctly wired switchboard, the neutral conductors from each circuit are terminated at the neutral link, which connects them all to the incoming neutral supply via a common conductor bar. The NL10 provides 10 connection holes for this purpose — accommodating a main neutral plus up to nine circuit neutral connections, or any other combination suited to the switchboard layout and circuit count.

The black transparent cover is the universally recognised colour code for the neutral conductor in Australian installations — providing immediate visual identification of the neutral link inside the switchboard and distinguishing it from the red-covered active link (AL range). The numbered terminals further assist with circuit identification, making it straightforward to match each circuit's neutral conductor to its corresponding circuit breaker in the switchboard layout. The transparent cover allows the installed conductors to be visually inspected without removing the cover.

The NL10 is the 10 hole variant in the Transco neutral link range. For smaller switchboards, the NL7 (7 hole, L65 x W45 x H44mm) is the compact option. For larger circuit counts, the NL14 and NL18 provide 14 and 18 hole capacity respectively, all at the same L91 x W58mm footprint as the NL10. Note that the NL7 is a different physical size from the NL10/14/18 — confirm the required hole count and physical dimensions before specifying. Sold individually.

Q: What is a neutral link and where is it used in a switchboard?
A: A neutral link is an internal switchboard component that connects the incoming neutral supply conductor to the neutral terminals of multiple individual circuits. Each circuit's neutral conductor is terminated at the neutral link, which provides the common neutral connection point for all circuits in the switchboard. The NL10 provides 10 connection holes for neutral conductor termination, rated at 100A and 500V max.

Q: What is the difference between a neutral link and an active link?
A: A neutral link (NL range, black cover) connects the incoming neutral conductor to circuit neutral terminals. An active link (AL range, red cover) connects the incoming active conductor to the active bus feeding circuit breakers. The colour coding — black for neutral, red for active — is the universally recognised Australian convention for identifying these components inside a switchboard.

Q: What is the maximum cable size the Transco NL10 neutral link accepts?
A: The NL10 accepts cable up to a maximum of 25mm², covering the range of neutral supply cable sizes used in standard residential and commercial switchboard installations.
