Where the 32A 2 Pole MCB Is the Right Circuit Protection Specification

The C2P32 at 32A covers the higher-draw circuits that a standard 16A or 20A MCB cannot protect — electric cooktops, larger air conditioning systems, electric vehicle charging circuits, workshop machinery, and commercial equipment that draws sustained current at or near the 32A level. As a 2 pole device, it isolates both the active and neutral conductors simultaneously when it trips — the correct specification where double pole isolation is required by the installation design or the application standard. The 32A rating makes the C2P32 one of the most commonly specified MCBs for dedicated high-draw appliance circuits in both residential and commercial switchboards.

The C curve tripping characteristic is the standard for residential and commercial general purpose circuits — tripping magnetically at 5 to 10 times the rated current. At 32A, this means magnetic tripping at 160 to 320A, covering the fault current levels encountered in the vast majority of Australian residential and commercial circuit installations. The 10kA short circuit capacity and energy limiting class 3 provide strong downstream protection, and the 1 to 16mm² cable accommodation covers the cable sizes used for 32A circuits from standard 4mm² down to any smaller sub-circuit feed.

The C2P32 is the 32A variant in the Transco 2 pole MCB range. Available current ratings across the range are 10A (C2P10), 16A (C2P16), 20A (C2P20), 25A (C2P25), 32A (C2P32), 40A (C2P40), 50A (C2P50), and 63A (C2P63). 1 pole and 3 pole variants are also available for single pole and three phase circuit protection requirements.

Q: What circuits is the 32A C2P32 MCB typically used for?
A: The C2P32 at 32A is typically used for dedicated high-draw circuits including electric cooktops, larger reverse cycle air conditioning systems, electric vehicle charging points, workshop and commercial machinery, and any circuit where the connected load draws sustained current approaching the 32A rating.

Q: What is the difference between the C2P16 and the C2P32?
A: The C2P16 and C2P32 are identical in construction, tripping characteristic, pole count, voltage rating, DIN rail format, and connection type. The key difference is the rated current — C2P16 at 16A and C2P32 at 32A. Choose the C2P32 where the circuit load or cable size calls for a 32A rated protective device.

Q: What cable sizes does the Transco C2P32 MCB accept?
A: The C2P32 accepts cable from 1mm² to 16mm² via screw terminal with pillar terminal and clamp — covering the full range of standard Australian circuit cable sizes including 4mm² and 6mm² cable commonly used for 32A circuits.
