Description

Overload, short-circuit and earth-leakage protection in one device.

The Ravelo RMCBO440M16 is a 16A, 4-pole RCBO with a 6kA breaking capacity and a Type A residual-current trip. An RCBO combines a miniature circuit breaker (MCB) and a residual current device (RCD) in a single DIN-rail module, providing protection against overload and short circuit together with earth-leakage protection on the same circuit. As a 4-pole device it switches and protects three phases and neutral, suiting three-phase circuits in switchboards and distribution boards.

Key Features

  • 16A rated current
  • 4 pole – three phases plus neutral
  • 6kA short-circuit breaking capacity
  • Type A residual current detection (AC and pulsating DC)
  • Combined MCB and RCD in one module (overload, short-circuit and earth-leakage protection)
  • DIN-rail mount for switchboards and distribution boards
  • Australian/NZ approval or compliance certificates held

What an RCBO Does

An RCBO brings together two protective functions in one device. The MCB element protects the circuit against overload and short circuit, tripping when current exceeds safe limits. The RCD element monitors for earth leakage, tripping quickly if current leaks to earth, such as through a person or a fault. Combining both in a single module saves space on the DIN rail and ensures each circuit has both forms of protection.

Four Pole for Three-Phase Circuits

As a 4-pole device, the RMCBO440M16 protects and switches three phases and neutral together. This suits three-phase circuits in commercial and industrial switchboards, isolating all four conductors when the device trips or is switched off.

Type A Residual Current Detection

The Type A rating means the RCBO detects both AC residual currents and pulsating DC residual currents, offering broader protection than a basic AC-only type. This suits circuits supplying modern equipment with electronic components.

Q: What is the difference between an RCBO and an MCB?
A: An MCB protects only against overload and short circuit. An RCBO adds earth-leakage (residual current) protection, combining both functions in one device.

Q: What does 4 pole mean on the RMCBO440M16?
A: It protects and switches four conductors – three phases and neutral – making it suitable for three-phase circuits.

Q: What does Type A mean?
A: Type A residual current detection responds to both AC and pulsating DC earth-leakage currents, suiting circuits with electronic equipment.
