The Powerclip architrave switch plate has a narrower, taller format than a standard grid plate — W35 x L85mm versus the standard W72 x L116mm — making it the natural fit for narrow locations such as beside door frames and in corridor wall positions. The MB/AS is purpose-built to match this format: it provides exactly the right 35 x 85mm footprint and 74mm fixing centres for the Powerclip architrave switch plates (AS1BC, AS1BC/B, AS2BC, AS2BC/B and equivalents), with 25mm of depth behind the plate for cable housing. The actual measured height is 23.5mm.

The 25mm depth is the key distinction from the standard MB universal mounting block (34mm deep, 84mm fixing centres, 76 x 119mm footprint) — the MB/AS is shallower and narrower, matching the slimmer architrave plate format. Using a standard MB block behind an architrave plate is not possible due to the different fixing centre pattern and footprint dimensions.
