4 Core & Earth Ordinary Duty PVC Cables

Our 4 Core & Earth Ordinary Duty PVC Cables are made for general wiring in clean, dry environments where standard protection is sufficient. Commonly used for control wiring, switchboards, and domestic installations, they provide the flexibility and core configuration needed for office and light-industrial three-phase setups.

Available in a variety of colours including Black, Orange, White and Grey, these cables make identification and colour-matching easy across multiple installs. Lightweight, easy to handle and cost-effective, this range is popular with electricians, builders, and equipment installers looking for a neat, tidy finish in lighter-duty environments.

Why it’s a go-to option:

  • Suitable for fixed wiring in switchboards, control gear & indoor runs

  • Easier to strip, route and terminate than heavy-duty options

  • Range of colours for tidy, identifiable installs

  • 4 cores plus earth for standard 3-phase setups

What is 4 Core & Earth ordinary duty flex used for?
It's commonly used in switchboards, light-duty control wiring, and domestic or commercial installs that don’t require heavy mechanical protection. Ordinary duty flex cable is not suitable for environments with oil, abrasion or significant mechanical stress.

How is this different from heavy duty flex?
Ordinary duty flex has a lighter outer sheath and is best suited to environments without oil, abrasion or mechanical stress. It's easier to strip and install in enclosed or protected areas.

Can I use this cable outdoors?
No, this cable is designed for indoor or sheltered use only. For outdoor or harsher conditions, we recommend heavy-duty rubber or PVC cables.

Are different colours available?
Yes—Black, Orange, White and Grey options help with cable management and visual distinction in multi-circuit installations.
